I got an oversized postcard advertising Kenny Johnson, Jr. for Illinois State Rep of the 26th district. He claims there's a corruption problem with the city and county (remember...he's a state representative). His good friend and Peotone airport supporter is none other than another junior: Jessie Jackson, Jr.
His opponent would be Elga Jefferies, who has accomplished about this: | | much for her constituents in the way of reduced taxes, reduced state spending or increased public transit funding. In fact, Elga's
ONLY major contribution since taking office was to sponsor a bill increasing a grant for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families--something I am so sure Elga's wealthiest campaign contributors begged her for during her campaign for office.
Elga did sponsor an incredibly minor change in a current Unemployment Insurance Act and made a "technical change" in the usury section of the 1961 criminal code, specifically, a change in the "drug school" language. Thank GOD Elga was on top of that.
Elga went on to sponsor a bill that would allow home owners in LEED buildings to receive a tax credit...a bill she later tabled (canceled) for whatever reason.
In March, Elga chose to honor, of all the people in her huge district, Jennifer Hudson. In April, Elga chose to honor another all-important and deserving Chicagoan, Geraldine Hooten--some lady who retired from the City of Chicago's Human Resources Dept. But Elga wasn't done yet. In October, Elga formally congratulated the staff of the Prentiss Hospital of Northwestern.
Let's hope we have more candidates running for our district that these two.
