Apollo 13 40th Anniversary
On April 11, 1970, James A. Lovell, John L. "Jack" Swigert, and Fred W. Haise launched into space on the third manned mission to the moon. Two days later, an electrical malfunction caused failure of the ship's oxygen tanks and loss of electrical power. Despite extreme hardship and limitations, the crew returned safely to earth on April 17. April 2010 marks the 40th anniversary of this historic event. The Adler will commemorate the Apollo 13 mission with activities, a panel discussion, and special events.
