Bowing to Mayor Daley instead of City Council tradition, Chicago aldermen today approved the mayor’s controversial plan to build a $100 million Children’s Museum in Grant Park. Rebel rookie Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd), who dared to defy Daley, had predicted a “close vote,” citing the longstanding practice of deferring to the wishes of the local aldermen on zoning issues. He was dead wrong.
