| Procession and Street Closure Information for Chicago 2007 AIBA World Boxing Championships The AIBA World Boxing Championships Chicago 2007 (October 23rd - November 3rd at UIC Pavilion) welcomes athletes and visitors from around the world and shows the international community the City of Chicago's passion for amateur athletics. On Monday, October 22, nearly 700 boxers from more than 120 countries will kick off the AIBA World Boxing Championships Chicago 2007 in the Opening Ceremony Athlete Procession up State Street. The procession will begin at the Palmer House Hilton and will travel up State Street to the Chicago Theatre. The procession will require the closure of State Street between Adams Street and Wacker Drive beginning at approximately 2:30 p.m. East and west bound traffic along Monroe, Madison, Washington, Randolph and Lake streets will remain open until 3:30 p.m. The streets are expected to be reopened no later than 6:30 p.m. Alternate routes that will keep motorists well away from the closures include Columbus Drive and Wacker Drive. Closer to State Street, traffic will be diverted to Clark, LaSalle, Wells and Dearborn streets and Congress Parkway. More than 50 extra Traffic Control Aides will be posted to help with the redirection of vehicles. While crowds are expected to line State Street, pedestrians will have normal access to the Chicago Transit Authority Red Line subway stations along State Street.
