Hi All,

Join us Wednesday, June 11, from 9:00- 10:00 am 2nd Floor, City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle to voice your opposition to the Chicago Children's Museum proposal to build in protected Grant Park!

The City Council will vote on this issue Wednesday at the City Council Meeting which starts at 10:00am.

MAYOR DALEY and the City Council JUST RAISED PROPERTY TAXES
and city fees by $277 MILLION A YEAR.

Now Daley wants Taxpayer Subsidies for a children's museum in Grant Park??

What Mayor Daley wants Taxpayers to give his friends
at the Chicago Children's Museum*:

$51 Million - value of the 1.75 acres of parkland the museum will control1

$99 Million - Taxpayer subsidies from the Museums in the Park Fund2

$36 Million - Replacement cost of 400 demolished underground parking spaces3

$353 Million - Value of free rent in Grant Park4

$539 Million in Taxpayer Giveaways to the Children's Museum??

*Calculated across museum's 99 year lease.
1 - $668 per sq. ft., cost of similar land nearby for the Chicago Spire
2 - Based on Crain's Chicago Business article, 7/24/07
3 - Based on construction and financing costs of Millennium Park garage, $96,000 per parking space
4 - Based on value of museum's rent subsidy at Navy Pier, $35.66 per sq. ft. per year

THIS IS NOT ABOUT CHILDREN!

CALL YOUR ALDERMAN! TELL HIM/HER TO VOTE "NO" ON JUNE 11TH.

Hope to see you all there. Please feel free to forward this message on and visit our website at savegrantpark.org

Regards,

Peggy Figiel
