CTA bus service will be reduced by 18% and rail service will be reduced by 9% starting on Sunday, February 7th, 2010. Service reductions were designed to retain as much service as possible while reducing costs and maximizing efficiency. All parts of the region that have CTA service will continue to have it. Savings will be realized through less frequent service and service that might start later in the morning or end earlier at night.
Rail (Train): CTA will continue to operate all (8) rail lines. Hours and Days of rail service will remain the same, but service will operate less frequently.
Bus: Nine express bus routes are being eliminated. Local bus routes will continue to operate where express routes are being eliminated. Service will operate less frequently on 119 different bus routes, of which 41 will also experience a later start times, earlier end times, or both.
