From Reilly Reports --
CDOT's Aggressive Plan to Attack Potholes
The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) is facing its greatest pothole challenge in eight years. Currently, there are 5,300 potholes reported in the city's CSR system, and likely many more that have not yet been reported.
CDOT has a defined, aggressive plan to attack this seasonal dilemma. CDOT uses computer-generated work plans that map and coordinate the routing of pothole crews, allowing repair crews to be assigned in the most efficient and effective way. CDOT meets every 4 hours to review the situation, to respond to changes and emergency conditions as they appear.
CDOT's average response time to fill a pothole is between 3 to 6 days, depending on weather. During the high-volume winter months, the response time in some cases may be slightly longer. Potholes on arterial streets-the busiest and most heavily traveled routes - are a priority, but each case will be repaired as soon as possible.
Alderman Reilly's office works directly with CDOT to identify and repair potholes in the 42nd Ward. If you see a pothole that needs repair, please contact the constituent office at
office@reillyforchicago.com or 312-642-4242. Please be prepared to give the specific location of the pothole, including nearest street address.
