Crunch spurs push for new careers
December 1st, 2008 05:00 AM - Patricia Slagle spent 25 years as a hair stylist, but as the economy worsened she started nursing school at Moraine Valley Community College this fall because her family is "definitely feeling it.'' After 12 years as a flight attendant, Joel La Rocca is training to become a respiratory therapist because he's worried about the "stability of the airline industry.''
