Why is it that every time Bob O'Neill tries to come out on the offensive, he instead ends up sounding very defensive?

An editorial from Mr. O'Neill.

"I have been working on improving Grant Park for 20 years and when I started, it was open, clear, free and dilapidated. Where were all of the open, clear and free advocates, the purists, then? This cherished land was almost written off and where were they?__Where are they now as we get more and more green space and more trees planted in the downtown lakefront and the creation of hundreds of acres of new green space?"

This and the meeting last week reminds me of Lynn Becker's characterization of Bob O'Neill and GPAC in The Reader earlier this year.
