 Metra riders, get ready to stand
June 14th, 2008 05:00 AM - For Metra, high fuel prices giveth, and high fuel prices taketh away. Soaring gas prices are turning drivers into riders. In April, Metra logged 7 million riders, the highest April ridership in the agency's 24-year history. But the high cost of diesel fuel is also hurting Metra, which said today it expects a $20 million budget shortfall this year because of fuel prices this year.
