We are attempting to streamline our online ability to communicate using email and website links to http://neweastside.org You now have the ability to pay your NEAR voluntary dues by check, online using PayPal, or a credit card. Currently the dues for either individual or family have been temporarily reduced to only $10.00 for the combined 2007/08 2-year period. Your Board of Directors determined it is better to have more persons supporting their neighborhood organization with a smaller contribution.

We will continue to announce meetings: 1) via email, 2) through notices in your mailrooms, and 3) directly to residents without email access who request a mailed copy. If you have normally been receiving these NEAR community meeting notices through the regular U.S. Mail, we can save 41 cents on all future mailings, if you advise us at NEAR@neweastside.org of your street address, and that future notices via email are OK.

While it is a low cost indication of support, it is NOT necessary for you to pay the voluntary dues to be on the “free email community information list”. You can add your own address, and we encourage you to get your neighbor’s permission, and also add their email address at http://neweastside.org The strength and continued improvement of our community is enhanced by our ability to communicate efficiently.

For information or questions: Call…Richard Ward at 312-938-0884
or email NEAR@neweastside.org 155 N. Harbor #5101, Chicago, IL 60601

Thank you to the over 300 persons that attended the NEAR meeting at the Fairmont Ballroom last Wednesday.

At the meeting we outlined the three phases of approvals that the Children's Museum would have to "obtain" before moving to Grant Park. Also, the 2001 Chicago Department of Planning recommended Harbor-Wacker connection, that was endorsed by all condominiums, is also reviewed on the website http://neweastside.org

We will continue to collect "voluntary" dues as an indication of support. Also, the strength and continued improvement of our community is enhanced by our ability to communicate efficiency. So please continue to add your friend's addresses (with their permission) to the "free email community information list".

Thank you,

Richard Ward, President NEAR
