August 1st, 2008 02:09 PM - (AP) — A new Illinois law prevents utilities from shutting off power to nonpaying customers during extreme heat.

Governor Rod Blagojevich signed the law Friday. It bars companies from turning off power for air conditioning when temperatures reach 95 degrees or higher.
