I can think of lots of personal and political reasons for him not to go... if Chicago doesn't get the 2016 Summer Olympics then it makes him look weak.

If he does help Chicago get the Olympics, he will be part of the key group of top individuals that will get their reputation tarnished by the cost overruns and any scandals as part of the preparation for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

But the benefits to strengthening Chicago's bid are encouraging! Thanks Obama!
