Off-duty detective dies after shooting

August 14th, 2008 05:00 AM - A Chicago Police officer shot early Wednesday on the West Side has reportedly died early Thursday. The off-duty police Bomb & Arson Section detective was shot about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the 3000 block of West Franklin Boulevard and died about 3:05 a.m. Thursday at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
