How's it going? I wanted to say hello and introduce myself- my name is Reilly and I work with Platform One Entertainment here in Chicago. We work with up and coming bands and we also put on a benefit concert series called Dare 2 Dream We are thrilled to announce our next Dare 2 Dream. The Roots is headlining our next event at House of Blues Chicago on December 4th with proceeds once again going to People's Music School to help bring funding and awareness to music education within the community. Along with the concert we also have an instrument drive, silent auction, Sonicbids band contest, etc and we would love to work with The Examiner in the announcement and getting the word out.

This is going to be a really great opportunity to bring awareness and support for The People's Music School. I would love to get The Examiner involved in some way- for example, a feature on the show or charity- we're really open to anything!

People's Music School:
The People's Music School is the only totally free community music school in the United States. It was started by Dr. Rita Simo in 1975 with just $625 and a donated piano. Now the school has over thirty teachers and works with almost 500 students a year. Their instruction encompasses instruments, vocal, and theory. In a time where music education in public schools is being continually cut, places like People's Music School are extremely important in the musical development of children.

Sonicbids- open for The Roots:
We're having a contest via Sonicbids for a band to open the show. If you know any artists that would be interested feel free to spread the word! There is a small fee, but it gets donated to People's Music School. Anyone can enter by making a sonicbids account, the deadline is November 15th, after that all the entries will be listened to and the winner is chosen by The Roots.

Instument Drive:
For the People's Music School, every instrument donated is another child that gets to learn the joy of music, who otherwise would be unable to. If you'd like to donate, please drop off or ship your instrument to the Platform One offices, located at 1467 N. Elston, Chicago, IL 60642. Hours of operation are from 9AM to 6:00PM.
