Property Tax Appeals
The Cook County Board of Review announced this week :18m: it will reopen all previously closed townships for property taxpayer appeals. New appeals can be filed from March 17th to March 31st. For residents of the 42nd Ward, this includes those living South of the Chicago River and east of Franklin St. in the area designated by the Board of Review called the South Township.
Grounds for appeal include having neighbors with a much lower assessment, factual or math errors in the assessment, a major change to the property, or a recent sale that is less than the value determined by the assessor.
