Big Bowl

We went to the Big Bowl today for lunch. I had the lunch special curry lamb which is in a crock pot with white rice, the lamb is soft and tender, I like the eggplant in it, very tasty. Eric ordered the red hot pepper chicken noodles, he has ordered extra spicy and then found out is was really really spicy, it has chinese egg noodles, chicken, fresh chili peppers, chopped peanuts, red onions, hot sauce. This time he did not add more chilly sauce in it.

We have been to the big bowl pretty often, we really like the way they make dishes. Because they understand that one of the true glories of Chinese food is its slow-simmered, braised meat dishes. They checked out the Chinese seasonings: which include rice wine, soy sauce, Chinese rock sugar, ginger, garlic and, often, star anise and Chinese cinnamon.

The spicy sesame noodles are full of flavor - just a touch of heat - and the potstickers even better. A nice thin skin, unlike the industrial kind you get at allegedly Chinese restaurants. I love the teriyaki glazed spareribs - fall off the bone with excellent flavor and the chow fun which has that wok-seared taste. I grew up eating this stuff so it is nice to know there is a place where I can get a taste of home. :1eye:
