| | Parkshore Gal October 23rd, 2007, 07:26 AM ....on Tuesday, October 30. It's on the NW corner of State and Lake (not sure if they will have a street facing sign, so you may have to go inside the building to access). They will be open on weekends as well. Eric Frost October 24th, 2007, 11:25 AM Is that Bao Wow ?
We love the place at the Water Tower, my wife buys them for the kids but ends up eating most of them and we have to go back and buy more
I found this -
••• WOW BAO ••• (http://www.wowbao.com/)
Click on Maps to see the other location in the Loop and the new "Coming Soon" location you mentioned.
Eric Parkshore Gal October 26th, 2007, 08:13 AM The opening date was just changed to Thursday, November 1.... salmdesign October 30th, 2007, 03:52 AM I know you all like Wow Bao, but I tried them on a couple of occasions. Those dumpling things seemed soggy, and the meat/vegetable filling paltry. Plus, they're pricey if you order a bunch of them. Eric Frost October 30th, 2007, 05:36 AM It's Bao Wow. I walked by there last Friday and saw them setting up inside. Good location! They had a sign that said soggy, over-priced dim sum coming soon. salmdesign November 11th, 2007, 04:58 PM No, Eric. It's not Bao Wow. That's the Vietnamese dumpling restaurant on Kedzie, not the Lettuce Entertain You place.
I'd hate to know what's in Bao Wow's dumplings, although the restaurant's tagline is:
"Fi Fi Fo Yu" Parkshore Gal November 13th, 2007, 11:19 AM I dunno.......I've been there are couple of times already and I have to admit there is something I really like about the place. Not so high end, mind you, but the staff is nice as can be and the dumplings are strangely satisfying.
Shades of Sweeney Todd, perhaps? Eric Frost November 14th, 2007, 07:50 PM My wife keeps talking about going there one night, but it's getting cold. Maybe this weekend.
What do dumplings have to do with Sweeney Todd? Has Johnny Depp professed his love of Chinese dumplings? I saw a trailer for Sweeney Todd and wasn't that moved to see it, I'll wait for the reviews.
Beowulf in 3D at the IMAX opening this weekend looks compelling, I read John Gardner's Grendel as part of our lit class in high school as we saw the Beowulf movie that came out last year through Netflix. I'm a fan. Sorry I am getting off the topic of dumplings. :-)
Eric Eric Frost December 31st, 2007, 12:38 AM We have ordered delivery from Wow Bao last Saturday, they taste OK to me, it's a little cold ( maybe the weather was too cold outside). We have enjoyed them but not our kids, they seems not very keen on them. When I had them at the Water towers, they seems to be very good! Well, maybe we have to try it again! Or any recommendations for deliveries since the weather is so bad. Parkshore Gal December 31st, 2007, 09:07 AM Interesting....I didn't realize Wow Bob delivered. Since the new one is close to my office, I am eating there more frequently. I'm over the dumplings, these days I'm liking the pot stickers and salads (the dressing is terrific).
Next time you want food delivered, try GRUBHUB.COM. It's a great site that lets you type in your address, then gives a list of restaurants that will deliver to you. Oftentimes you can even place the order online. Eric Frost December 31st, 2007, 10:06 AM We used CEODeliveries to get delivery from Wow Bao. Another company that delivers for lots of restaurants is DiningIn.
Thanks for the tip about GrubHub.
Eric kristine chen March 20th, 2008, 12:36 AM Elizabeth and I went to the Water tower, I ordered a couple of the baos, but she likes the chicken noodle soup, end up she had quite a bit from it. It was clear and pretty tasty. But the Bao is still too spicy or I should say flavorable for her.:clown3: | |
