Hellocbotnyse October 29th, 2007, 08:25 AM Hello, I'm cbotnyse and found this from SSC.com I love this city more than anything and look forward to talking with you all. Eric Frost October 29th, 2007, 08:31 AM Hi cbotnyse, Welcome! Look forward to chatting with you as well. What is SSC ? When I go to the web site it redirects to the Linux Journal By the way, great photos on chicagophotoshop, thanks for the link! You've probably noticed our little photo gallery, I posted four more yesterday.. mostly construction projects downtown. http://www.windychat.com/photos/ Eric cbotnyse October 29th, 2007, 08:38 AM sorry, ssc is short for SkyscraperCity - Powered by vBulletin (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/) I have many photos to share of our great city. I live next door to Trump construction, so I will be happy to post updates all the time. Eric Frost October 29th, 2007, 08:49 AM Cool, I posted some photos the other day in the forum at "SSP" - SkyscraperPage Forum (http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showpost.php?p=3129957&postcount=6143) - maybe that's how it found it's way over to SSC. Do you live in Marina City? My wife and I lived in 440 N. Wabash for about a year before it became condos. Let me know if you need any help posting photos here or would like to rearrange categories - we're just getting started so I'm still trying to figure out what makes sense. Do you want to post some photos and then let me know ? Eric cbotnyse October 29th, 2007, 08:59 AM ^ yep I'm a member there too. I live across the street at 405 Wabash. Do you want to keep the photo section different from the forum section? I was just going to make new threads in the appropriate forums. Eric Frost October 29th, 2007, 09:07 AM That would be fine. I think that's how it is usually done on SSC and SSP ? Let me know if you have any trouble with the attachment or image size limits, I would be happy to change them to accomodate. Eirc cbotnyse October 29th, 2007, 09:10 AM yeah thanks. I usually upload them to photobucket first and post it from there so attachment sizes arent an issue. For example, :) http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f21/cbotnyse/DSC_0011copy8x12.jpg Eric Frost October 29th, 2007, 09:31 AM Wow awesome photo! Just curious, when was that taken? It looks like 340 On the Park is complete... cbotnyse October 29th, 2007, 09:33 AM Thanks, I took that maybe 2 weeks ago. You can clearly see Trump Tower peaking up in the background too. Eric Frost October 29th, 2007, 09:38 AM Oh yeah, with the cranes poking up. That must have been one of the last nights the fountain was running. cbotnyse October 29th, 2007, 09:44 AM yeah there was some promotion that night for a TV show and they were lighting up the fountain in all red and spotlights. I wish I had more time out there but did manage to get a few good ones. I'll be posting them all eventually. :) Is this your site? what was your idea for it? just chatting about Chicago? thats good enough for me, I can talk Chicago all day. Eric Frost October 29th, 2007, 11:09 AM Yes, chatting about the Windy City in general.. it originally came out of New-Eastside.com (http://www.new-eastside.com) so there is still a very downtown resident bent to the site (see restaurants for instance). I am trying to get the Calendar fleshed out.. also you can see there is some Bears commentary in the Events section, I should probably make that a separate Sports section. The proposed move of the Chicago Children's Museum to Grant Park has been the major topic in the Chat section, probably every press or blog posting about the issues is linked to from the Chat section so it serves as a pretty good summary for anyone interested in the topic. A friend said he was shooting a weekly photo of the Spire and Aqua buildings as they are going up, that's where the Photos section originally came from... The site actually gets a lot of traffic but not that many people stop to register and participate, so maybe if you can post some interesting things or bring up topics other people will join in.. By the way, I've been to the McDonald's and the store in the first floor of your building, many many times. :-) Eric cbotnyse October 29th, 2007, 11:13 AM sounds good. I see you've been a member for almost 2 years now! I'll be happy to post my pictures and news whenever I see it. I'd like to up the membership too and get more talking about the city. We know there sure is plenty to discuss. This city is booming right now! Eric Frost October 29th, 2007, 05:36 PM HA - you got me, but the two years is mis-leading... it was originally a little viewed and sort of hidden forum running simple software under new-eastside.com, we just launched or re-launched the forum as windychat less than two months ago :-) As windychat.com we hope to get something going.. lots of promotional ideas in the works but word of mouth is definitely the best thing... Eric Eric Frost November 1st, 2007, 05:36 PM Just curious about your handle cbotnyse - Chicago Board of Trade / New York Stock Exchange. ? Do you work in trading or how do people say it? Eric cbotnyse November 2nd, 2007, 05:24 PM Just curious about your handle cbotnyse - Chicago Board of Trade / New York Stock Exchange. ?
