From Richard Ward --
1) After 8 years of advocating dozens of issues, our neighborhood website homepage index needed a reorganization. Nothing was deleted. A new link: "Most Convenient ROUTES" to and from the New Eastside was added just below the MAP on the NEW homepage http://neweastside.org (http://neweastside.org/)
2) On Monday, it will have been 11 weeks since the Children's Museum announced their 3rd version on September 10, 2007. During that time Alderman Reilly, the Friends of Daley Bicentennial http://SaveGrantPark.org (http://savegrantpark.org/) have been working diligently to keep Chicago's front yard- Grant Park - open, free, and clear. Several respected lawyers have also been studying the legal precedents that have kept Grant Park an unspoiled open public park for 171 years. Our generation has a responsibility to preserve Chicago's valuable "public gathering space" for future generations.
3) Please remember to send a $10 check to NEAR for your 2007/2008 "family or individual dues" so that you will be on the list of "voluntary supporters" eligible to vote for Directors at January's meeting. Also indicate on your check "Email Only OK" for future meeting notices. Send to: Richard Thennes, Treasurer, 360 Randolph, Unit 1103, Chicago 60601.
