:(What has our nation become? A teacher arrested for naming a Teddy Bear? Just because the name also belongs to a God? Should any person who names their child Muhammond be arrested?
When a teacher is arrested and humiliated for such a simple thing, what message are we sending to our children ,if nobody takes a stand in her defence? There is a shortage of teachers in our country! There is an even greater demand for excellant teachers. How many women and men are going to be willing to teach if such an injustice is not addressed and corrected. The school boards have gone insane, the law is growing outrageous, and our children are the victims. Did anyone ask her students how they felt about this incident? Why did this so offend someone? Is a Teddy Bear such a repulsive thing as to hinder great insult upon Muhammond ? I am sure the teacher being arrested, is a greater insult. I am greatly troubled by the neverending wars and prejudices between the many religions of the world! I have studied almost all of them and I found God in all of them. I did not find in any of them, however, where people are instructed to hate, judge, and take offence to simple things.

I am currently an Art education major in college. I have a 4.0 and I hope that every child I have the honor of meeting will take something positive and enlightening from my class. I am appalled at the things I have heard some of my fellow Education majors say. They have already deemed some children unreachable and unteachable! They have given up on them. They are afraid of some of the kids who are sent to alternative school for behavioral problems. Well I am not! Who are we to label children? What will be will be! Aren't we, the adults, collectively responsible for teaching them right from wrong, showing them compassion, love, forgiveness, determination, respect, and above all else- to fight for a better tomorrow! Too many children are on drugs(legal as well as illegal). Too many parents sit back and think that others know what is best for their child. Sometimes it is a matter of convenience to allow authorities to decide what is best for a child. We have lost control! We've lost control of our children, ourselves, our government, our neighborhoods, and even our human rights. Do our children even have rights anymore? There are so many real horror stories of how our youth are being abused, violated, even murdered by institutions designed to supposedly help them. There is a web site about these many unbelievable crimes which is: NATIONAL CRISIS (http://caica.org/index.htm) (Coalition Against Institutionalized Child Abuse) This is a real crisis!
Unbelivably, most of the people directly and indirectly responsible for these acts go unpunished, unaccused, and continue to endanger the lives and well being of our children!</P>Yet, a teacher is arrested for naming a Teddy Bear a name that someone took great offense to. I am devestated! Seventy percent of the youth in my county drop out of school. These youth are our future. I have not lost my faith in them or a better tomorrow. I have lost faith in those who are supposedly grownup, mature, and responsible. Anyone who thinks this teachers arrest is not their concern, even if they find tit as appalling as I, and shake their heads, uttering"What is this world coming to? !!! Well my fellow Americans, this world is coming to what we allow it to come to. I am surrounded by bright, caring, and wonderful people who say to me that there is nothing we can do to change things. My response is this.. things are changing everyday, we can stand by and hope for the best, we can allow others to run our lives and make our decisions, or we can speak up and demand justice! Even in an event such as this teachers arrest. Injustice will not end until we literally demand that truth, liberty, and justice for ALL! We must put a stop to giving in to every little petty accusation and outraged citizen whose unreasonable accusations disrupt, humiliate, and cause permanent damage to the innocent. Since when was offending or even insulting someone, especially unintentionally, a crime worthy of arrest? Should atheists demand that anyone practicing or representing their religion in public be arrested for violating the rights of the atheists? Freedom of religion, freedom of speach, We are suppose to be free to be who we are without fear of condemnation or persecution. But are we?
