Absolutely killed. They took Gaucho and woke it up...brought that weirdo smokey sheen to a clear refulgence with amazing heavy handed and slick drumming and just all around awesomeness. These tunes sounded terse, thrilling and viril - unlike the recording that is rightly maligned by some as overly antiseptic and distant. I love the record but you can understand why fans at the time were disappointed by its lack of immediate bombastics....but when drummer Keith Carlock started the Purdie shuffle in Babylon Sisters I think I wet myself. This destroyed the set I saw in '97 - these hired guns are STELLAR. Larry Carlton takes the stage with them Thursday and Friday and I still don't regret choosing Gaucho as the only show I could afford. Third World Man was chilling - a perfect closer to the Gaucho record and set. I'm still stunned at how awesome that show was.

Maybe I'll just have to splurge for the Royal Scam set tomorrow...I'm going to be kicking myself for a long time if I miss that.

We were there! It may also be the only show I go to, unless my wife would believe that I had to work until 11 PM.

A universal story.. I think we've all been there.

A roommate and former or part-time gay lover brings home a Brazilian boy-toy and the resulting angst and efforts to evict said Gaucho from domicile.
