Speech therapy helps stroke survivors find voice
September 2nd, 2008 05:00 AM - A new treatment center run by the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago is giving new hope to people with aphasia, a common yet little-known side effect of stroke. People with aphasia lose the ability to speak or understand words. It occurs in about 25 percent of stroke patients because of damage to the areas of the brain that control language.
