 State: Congress, Wells is most dangerous intersection Congress and Wells is downtown Chicago's most dangerous intersection for sheer number of crashes, data compiled by the state show. But it's not the intersection that's the problem, says a Chicago firefighter stationed nearby. It's the goofy way people drive. "Everyone's in a hurry -- they need to slow down," says Lt. Darnell Pettis, who looks out at it all from his fire station at 419 S. Wells.
