Taxpayers dodge $2,000 bullet

Any expression of relief was most likely to come from the more than 20 million taxpayers facing the alternative minimum tax for the first time this year. It would have cost each an additional $2,000 at tax time had Congress not acted. President Bush plans to sign into law the one-year freeze on the AMT that lawmakers approved on Wednesday.
