| 1. State Representative Will Burns & State Senator Kwame Raoul Town Hall Meeting Please stop by to meet with Rep. Burns and Sen. Raoul and learn about state programs and services available to local residents, and to share your views on important community issues. It is a healthy Saturday morning walk north of the Columbus Bridge. (See #2 below) ... Hope many of you will join me...see you there...Richard When: Saturday, May 2, 2009 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Where: Laurie Building Hughes Auditorium 303 E. Superior...Superior and Fairbanks (Columbus - north of river) For future reference, you may add their local offices to your phone directory: Rep. Burns' constituent service office at 773-924-2600 or Senator Raoul's constituent service office at 773-363-1996. They can be helpful contacts with our Illinois government for information and problems. 2. Some of our residents may not be aware that a public elevator at the west end of the Tides building is available to go from Lakeshore East Park to Upper Wacker near the Swissotel. Also, the stairway from Upper Wacker down to the Middle Columbus Bridge has been repainted. The short walk on Saturday to Sen. Raoul and Rep. Burns TOWN HALL MEETING will be a good opportunity to explore this new route. Sometimes, when the elevator near the Lancaster is not operative, you should also be aware that an alternative elevator is available in the east end of the Shoreham, that is assesible from Upper Waterside (across from the Regatta). It is a handy back-up to walking down the stairs by the Lancaster. 3. We have just added 87 historic pictures and graphics of our New Eastside community to our neighborhood website at HISTORY2 By learning more about the history of our unique community, we can all become proud ambassadors of our New Eastside home and our very interesting origins. -- Richard F.
